Looking for a fun and creative way to bring nature indoors? Let’s turn ordinary leaves into stunning butterfly prints! Inspired by the beauty of the outdoors, this hands-on activity is perfect for little artists who love to explore colours, textures, and patterns. Grab your paintbrush and let’s get started!
What you'll need
- Leaves
- Acrylic aints
- Paintbrush
- Paper
- Black sharpie
Step-by-step guide
Step 1: Collect Your Leaves
Head outside with an adult and gather some leaves. Look for different shapes to make unique butterfly wings!
Step 2: Make Leaf Prints
Using a paintbrush, apply green paint to the back of a leaf. Press it onto your paper, using another sheet or kitchen roll to press down evenly. Lift the leaf to reveal the print!
Step 3: Create Butterfly Wings
Have a play around with positioning leaves into butterfly shapes. Keep going until you’ve created a collection of beautiful butterfly wings!
Step 4: Add the Finishing Touches
Once the paint dries (about 5 minutes), grab your sharpie and draw the butterfly’s body between the wings. Add antennae, patterns, or any extra details you like!
This simple and exciting craft is a fantastic way to spark creativity and imagination! Each butterfly print is unique, just like real butterflies! Try experimenting with different colours and leaf shapes to make your own fluttering masterpiece.
